A government delegation made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mr. Aurélien AGBENONCI and the Minister of the Economy and Finance, Mr. Romuald WADAGNI went to Japan for a few days for a mission which started on Monday, June 18, 2018. and which falls within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Benin and Japan. On its arrival in Japan, the ministerial delegation had a meeting with the actors of the private sector. This meeting allowed the Beninese delegation to present the various investment opportunities available in Benin. A meeting with the Japanese parliamentarians and then with the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tarō KONO also took place. There was also an interview with the President of the Association for the Development and the Economy of Africa (AFRECO) Mr. Testuro YANO on the priority projects of Benin and the partnerships that the two countries can establish on the strengthening of cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, transport, access to water and health infrastructure. The day of Tuesday, June 19, 2018 began with a meeting with the President of Toyota Corporation Mr. Takashi HATTORY on the activities carried out by his company in our country in order to encourage him to further develop his services there. The delegation had to present the various assets that Benin offers to the President of JETRO, Mr. Hiroyuki ISHIGE, in order to encourage Japanese companies to invest much more in Benin. Then, a meeting with the Director of the JBIC, Mr. Nobumitsu HAYASHI focused on ways and means of deepening relations between the Institution and Benin through the financing of Japanese companies. The ministerial delegation finally met with the leaders of Marubeni Corporation, a Japanese company operating in the textile industry and interested in investing in our country, then a delegation of senior executives led by the President of JICA with whom the questions of cooperation opportunities with Benin in the sector of sanitation and waste management were discussed.
