I am Eve de la Mothe Karoubi, Head of Networks and Director of the Benin Project between my institution which is the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the government of Benin. What are the objectives of this second mission to Benin? My colleague and I are delighted to have the opportunity to return on mission to Cotonou to officially launch this second year of cooperation between SDSN and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The objective of this mission is to get feedback on the first report that we published in 2022 and to prepare the 2023 edition with the various stakeholders, including statistics and social sector actors. The objective of this mission is to get feedback on the first report that we published in 2022 and to prepare the 2023 edition with the various stakeholders, including statistics and social sector actors. What can you tell us about what emerges from the exchanges with the various actors met during this mission and what, in your opinion, are the main challenges for the country? What emerges from the various meetings and the very rich discussions that we had, is the importance of being able to come and discuss in person and to have the opportunity to also visit the various projects and achievements, especially those supported by the SDG Eurobond. What also stands out, and this is always the case in Benin, is the strong commitment to the SDGs. They are present in all the programs and projects and all the different structures that we have encountered. In terms of challenges, they are still significant, but the strategies and programs are in place to try to overcome them and achieve the SDGs. What about the process of creating the SDSN network in Benin and what are the next steps? The creation of the SDSN network in Benin is a major step in our collaboration with the government. The network, which will be co-piloted by the University of Abomey-Calavi and the Department of Research and Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (DRES-MEF), was approved by our governance body last month in January. We had the opportunity during this mission to meet the various partners, not only from the management side of the new network but also the other actors from the academic and research world to reflect on the work program, and above all to plan together the official launch of the network which will take place in April this year (2023).
