Meeting in Cotonou on Friday January 18, 2019, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Romuald WADAGNI and Dr. John ANDRIANARISATA, Resident Representative of the ADB Group, signed two loan agreements relating to the financing of the Djougou-Péhunco-Kérou-Banikoara road development and asphalting project. With this signature, the Government of Benin has just joined the deed to the word by making a solemn commitment to the realization of this work which contributes more to the opening up of the departments of Atacora and Donga. With an amount of 195.32 million Euros, or 128.125 billion CFA francs for a linear distance of 212 km, the financing of this infrastructure is distributed between the ADB, the EU-AITF, the BOAD and Benin. The first country to benefit from ADB window financing, Benin owes this merit to its good collaboration with financial partners but also to the confidence born of the tireless efforts to clean up its macroeconomic framework. It is important to underline that in view of this confidence, Benin is authorized to start, with its own resources, the physical works falling within the framework of this project without waiting for the prior disbursement of the ADB which will proceed to the repayment the establishment of financing. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Romuald WADAGNI, on behalf of the President of the Republic, HE Mr. Patrice TALON, reassured the financial partners that the Government will continue to make budgetary orthodoxy a cardinal principle in the management of funding in order to preserve and increase the credibility of Benin. The Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Mr. Allassane SEIDOU and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Mr. Gaston C. DOSSOUHOUI, present at this event, were delighted with this final step which has been taken and will underline in their speeches that the construction of this road in the northern region is consistent with the flagship projects of the agricultural sector, which in this zone aim to promote agricultural and pastoral development.
