The interconnection between Beninese and Nigerien customs is now a reality. Flagship reform thought out and wanted by the two sister administrations and long remained a true sea serpent, this interconnection finally saw the light of day under the leadership of Colonel SACCA BOCO Inoussa Charles and Colonel AMADOU PETITOT Oumarou respectively Directors General of Customs of Benin and from Niger. Zone B of the Malanville Juxtaposed Control Post served as the framework for its launch on Friday January 25, 2019, on the occasion of the joint celebration with Niger of International Customs Day; day under the theme: SMART borders for smooth trade and the unhindered movement of people and goods. A real revolution intended to effectively fight against customs fraud, in this case fraudulent spills, the interconnection of computer systems will, among other things, boost the customs revenues of the two countries. This joint action, which confirms once again that the Port of Cotonou remains the natural port of Niger, a landlocked country, will make it possible to intensify the bilateral relations which have always characterized the two countries. This important ceremony, which will henceforth remain engraved in the annals of the numerous actions carried out within the framework of the Benin-Niger cooperation, saw the remarkable presence of the administrative authorities of the two countries, of the technical partners of the Beninese customs, in particular BENIN CONTROL and WEBB FONTAINE. , as well as private partners of the customs administrations of the two countries, namely: Economic Operators, Authorized Customs Brokers, representatives of Transporters, representatives of Chambers of Commerce and other players in the sector. The Benin Customs Administration took advantage of this special day to officially launch its * National Program of Authorized Economic Operators, * thus becoming one of the few countries in West Africa to implement this reform encouraged by the World Customs Organization and which fits perfectly with the requirements of the SAFE Framework of Standards.
