About thirty heads of village savings and loan associations in the town of Grand-Popo benefited from a training session on conflict prevention and management on Tuesday, March 26. This activity is the initiative of the Peace and Security Network for Women in the ECOWAS region (REPSFECO-Benin). After Houéyogbé on March 21 and Athiémé on March 25, 2019, it is around the heads of village savings and credit associations (VSLAs) of the municipality of Grand-Popo to strengthen their capacities on the prevention and management of conflicts. . Indeed, within the framework of the popularization and the implementation of the activities contained in the “Action Plan of the Woman, Peace and Security Component of the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework (PAFPS-CCPC)”, the Women’s Peace and Security Network in the ECOWAS region organized a training workshop with these beneficiaries on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the Hounsoukoè women’s meeting room. A happy initiative in the eyes of the Head of District Pascal Gbedey, this capacity building session will allow participants to keep the flame of peace in the town for its harmonious development. This is why he addressed his thanks to RESPFECO and to ECOWAS for the choice focused on his locality. For her part, the president of REPSFECO-Benin, Blandine Sintondji Yaya recalled in her intervention the importance of peace in the development process of a country and in the cohabitation between communities. This training was an opportunity for the organizers to educate the participants on several notions including, among others, those of “peace” and “conflict”. The analysis of conflicts through their causes, manifestations and effects as well as the different stages of conflict management furnished the presentation before the development of other activities within the framework of the training.
