Benin’s prowess in terms of transparency and the quality of budget information has just been recognized again internationally. Indeed, the last 2019 report of the Open Budget Survey (OBS) of Open Budget Initiative , has just established Benin, champion of French-speaking Africa in terms of budget transparency. Investigation on the Open Budget, an independent evaluation The Survey Open Budget is the only independent, comparative and factual to the world that uses internationally recognized criteria to assess public access to central government budget information, formal opportunities for the public to participate in the budget process national level and the role of budgetary oversight institutions such as the body legislative and auditor in the budget process. Benin has shown a clear desire to improve practices aimed at to ensure more transparency in the preparation and management of the the state. Implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance under the leadership of Minister Romuald Wadagni, these reforms focused on the modernization practices relating to the timely production and dissemination of quality budget documents, the involvement of the citizen in the decision-making and regular accountability. It is this will to transparency which has once again been recognized and welcomed by International Budget Partnership. Indeed, the 7 th edition of the Open Budget Survey, the report of which has just been published evaluated 117 countries and places Benin in the 1 er rank of African countries French speaking. The Benin achieved a score of 49/100 at the index of the budget ahead of Senegal (46/100), Mali (38/100) and Ivory Coast (34/100). Compared to previous years, this score also reflects continuous improvement of the level of transparency in the management chain budget of Benin. Indeed, Benin has achieved a good of 10 points compared to 2017 and 4 compared to 2015. This feat was made possible through the initiative of translation and dissemination by the Directorate General of Budget of budget documents in national languages.
